AMD posted new graphics drivers this month: version 14.2 Beta V1.3. Keep in mind that beta drivers can sometimes be less stable than their full counterparts, so use with caution.

Many of you are running AMD graphics, including people with Radeon and other graphics on mobile or desktop PCs. If you are, you’ll want this update.

The Radeon R9 290X is a recent example of a graphics card that sees performance gains from this update.

Here’s the details on what this new graphics driver provides, including improvements in specific games. Note that you should see better performance and stability, even if your application is not listed.

• Performance improvements and better Crossfire support in Thief
• Support for four GPUs running Battlefield 4
• Dual monitor support in DirectX 9 (such as in Windows XP) is improved
• Fix for missing textures in Minecraft
• Fewer crashes in 3D applications

Drivers are a set of instructions, or code, that act as a go-between from one part of your computer to another. In this case, it allows Windows to take better advantage of your graphics hardware, with fewer bugs and crashes and faster performance.
