TuxGuitar

TuxGuitar is software that was developed by HERAC. This software acts as an editor for musical notation which indicates instrument fingering also known as tablature. It includes different types of features which include triplet support, score editing, tablature editing as well as capability in importing and exporting of different types of files which include Guitar Pro gp5, gp4 and gp3. The software has the capability of functioning as MIDI editor with the use of staff interface or the tablature itself. TuxGuitar can also export and import MIDI files. The program was developed with the use of Java using GUI toolkits GTK as well as SWT. TuxGuitar is free software which also allows its users to copy, study, use, and make any changes on the software using its original source code. The development of TuxGuitar has stopped since the month of October year 2011.

Power Tab Editor is specifically a guitar and bass tablature editing application, which means users can edit or modify certain details that are found in guitar and bass tablatures using the Power Tab Editor program. This software can also be used to create guitar and bass tablatures, and widely used guitar and bass tablature symbols are available in Power Tab Editor. Symbols that are provided by Power Tab Editor include chord diagrams and names, bends, artificial and natural harmonics, slides and rhythm slashes among others. The Power Tab Editor software was developed for players of electric guitars, acoustic guitars, acoustic bass and electric bass. Guitar and bass tablatures that were created using Power Tab Editor are saved in the PTB format.
