WINDOWS HOLIDAY THEMES

A Windows Theme is a file that, when opened, changes your wallpaper, window color, and sound effects. Microsoft has some great holiday themes. These work in any version of Windows 8 or Windows RT, and also in Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional or Ultimate. Just save the file to your desktop and open it, which will bring up the Personalization window with the changes in place. To undo them, simply click on the default theme you had before.

WINDOWS HOLIDAY SCREENSAVERS

Screensavers protect monitors, especially old monitors, from burn-in by constantly changing the background when you’re not using it. Here are some links to holiday-themed screensavers.

WINDOWS XP

Winter Fun Screensavers at Microsoft.com

ANY WINDOWS

New England Snow at download.com

Both of these will install automatically and set your default screensaver to these animated, holiday-themed versions.

Using some or all of the above, you’ll be able to make your PC more festive, even when miles away from your Christmas tree!
