what is a .fzf file?

A Casio FZ-1 full dump file is encoded with proprietary standards and saved in the FZF format, and these Casio FZ-1 full dump files are also compressed using audio data compression specifications also proprietary to Casio. Audio files containing sound tracks, effects and other metadata details created using the Casio FZ-1 product are stored in the memory integrated into this device, which is an electronic synthesizer developed and released by Casio in the 1990s as a digital workstation unit. A Casio FZ-1 full dump file, which is affixed with the .fzf extension, is used by this digital workstation device for dumping all data presently stored in the device's memory. The firmware program of the Casio FZ-1 device accesses the data stored in this FZF file when a user requests certain audio data stored in the memory to be deleted or edited and updated with new sound tracks and effects. The Casio FZ-1 device can be synched and connected to a computer, and the FMJ-Software Awave Studio software is a digital music development and editing program that can be used to open, play and edit the content of these FZF files.

It can recognize formats from instruments by Akai, Korg, Yamaha, Roland, Ensoniq, Creamware, Kurzweil, Native instruments and many others. Aware Software Synthesizer lets you do real-time auditioning of your instruments. The Batch Conversion Wizard allows conversion of large numbers of files with optional effects. It supports up to 32bit data, and automatically converts lower precision source data to higher precision to avoid quantization errors and for audio fidelity. Instrument Processing Wizard avoids repetitive editing on multiple instruments. MIDI Processing Wizard lets you transpose notes and change tick rate. It has graphical editors for your instrument parameters.

a word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension on .fzf files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .fzf. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
