Certain encoding standards also proprietary to Leaf Imaging are also implemented into these Leaf camera RAW files so it can be stored in the MOS format. The content of these Leaf camera RAW files may include digital photos taken with supported digital cameras, which may include Mamiya camera models and the Leaf Aptus series among other digital camera types. Affixed with the .mos extension, these Leaf camera RAW files consist of uncompressed digital images that can be opened and edited by many digital photo editing applications. The Adobe Photoshop CS6 software is an example of a digital photo development program that can be used to open, view and edit the content of these Leaf camera RAW files. There is a version of the Adobe Photoshop CS6 developed for Mac platforms, while computers running on Microsoft Windows-based systems can be installed with another version of Adobe Photoshop CS6 to implement support into the system for opening, viewing and making modifications and changes to the content of these .mos files.

a word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension on .mos files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .mos. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
